The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II, has asked Journalists in the Northern Region to always engage in responsible journalism in their line of work devoid of Sensational headlines that stray from the true essence of their reports.

The Overlord noted that journalists must be principled and impartial, emphasizing that they must give accurate reports on the grounds that reflect true essence and context of the events.

Also, Ya-Na commended journalists for persistently playing vital role in amplifying the voices of communities and shedding light on events that shape lives of people in society.

The statements were read on his behalf by the Gbewaa Palace P.R.O, Musah Yakubu when GJA, Northern Regional Chapter Leadership paid courtesy call on the Overlord of Dagbon.

The GJA Northern Regional Chairman, Yakubu Abdul Majeed, Vice Chairman, Mr. Nelson, Secretary, Albert Futokpor and some selected journalists paid courtesy call on the Ya-Na at the Gbewaa Palace on Thursday, 22nd January 2024.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce themselves as leaders of GJA in the region to Ya-Na and also seek His blessings on their activities in the Northern Region.

On behalf of the Overlord, The Gbewaa Palace P.R.O, Musah Yakubu acknowledges pivotal role Media play in promoting peace, reconciliation and harmony in Dagbon through their reportage and urges them to continue the same path.

On his part, the GJA-N/R Chairman, Yakubu Abdul Majeed expressed his delight for the warm reception at the Gbewaa Palace and expressed his commitment to ensuring that journalists in the region will work according to the ethics of the profession.

Ya-Na gifted a smock to the GJA-N/R Chapter chairman Yakubu Abdul Majeed as gesture for the visit to the Palace.
